The last post: The best of Kenya

It seemed appropriate to close the blog with a slideshow of our favorite pictures and memories from Kenya. Though this is just a small sampling of our 3,000+ photos, we think these are the best representation of our time here. (Make sure the sound is audible on your computer)

We have mixed emotions about leaving but are very excited to see family and friends. We want to thank you all for your constant support of our crazy plan; this has truly been a memorable year in so many ways. We love you all and will see you soon!

Love,
M & E

  2. Okay, now my makeup is ruined! Finn will be so pleased he gets to watch me do it all over again (-:

The pictures are absolutely beautiful and the song was amazing too! I wondered how you would end the blog and I think you came up with the perfect finale.

I have enjoyed reading about your adventure and living vicariously through you. I also love that you got to share such an amazing thing together and spend so much time with each other. I can already tell it has strengthened your bond even more and you both seem so happy, I am glad that god blessed you with such a special year.

We are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited to see you next week, we have missed you more than I can express and I cannot wait to see you and to introduce you to your little godson!

    Love you both, safe travels.

    Love, Carrie, Kev, and Finn

  3. Me too! Not a dry eye in the house! You will have to do another blog for us though. This is like coming to the end of an amazing book into which you escape for just a few minutes or hours each day. Love you both so much. Safe travels and we will see you next week. Love you, Aunt Kiki

  4. Tears of amazement, wonder, awe, love, and appreciation for the opening of your eyes, your minds, and especially your hearts -- and for impacting mine.

Your words and photos over the months showed three things that especially touched me:

    1) You two are extraordinarily kind and loving to one another in word and deed which is so rare and precious

    2) You both stretched yourself in language, culture, work experience, travel, and reached for everything your adopted country had to offer while giving so much in return to Kenya and those who touched your hearts there

    3) This experience will shape your future, I believe, in the ways you relate to others personally and professionally, and you will continue to live God's fullest expression for us all: to love and care for others as He would care for us.

What a blessing this blog has been in keeping us close to you despite the distance, and in staving off the often-wished-for hugs from you both. To my baby girl, you know which photo I love the most. And, to M, you return with medical experiences that will make you an even better physician than you are already gifted to be - I'm sure you know which photo of you I cherish.

I'm overcome right now; with love, your generosity of spirit, your wondrous time of gentle togetherness, and the anticipation of your return home. Monday cannot come soon enough and I love you both so much. Your sharing with us was and is priceless.

  6. well i don't think any tears actually came out, but my eyes are watering! what an amazing year you've both had, i still wish i could have visited but hopefully you'll go back someday and i can go with you. i cannot wait to see you both for finn's baptism and to hear your stories in person! i love you so much and i'm proud of you for stepping out of your comfort zones and making the journey to kenya - it will definitely change you life, it probably already has.

good luck with your transition back to the u.s., you'll definitely experience culture shock and it'll be hard at first to get used to the rhythm of life here, so just know it'll take a while to adjust! i know you'll both dive headfirst into your u.s. life again but make sure and take some time for yourselves to help with the transition. love you guys so much!
